Zero-Commission Course Platforms in India (2026)

Many platforms advertise 0% commission, but only on a higher plan or with a catch. Here is where it really applies.

  1. Where 0% applies
  2. 0% commission is not 0% cost
  3. What you keep from a ₹10,000 sale
  4. How to choose

"Zero commission" is the most useful phrase on a course platform's pricing page and the most easily misread. Often it means 0% only on a higher plan, only when you use the platform's own payments, or 0% platform fee with a separate gateway fee on top. Here is where it actually applies, based on each vendor's pricing page read on 14 October 2026.

0% commission is not 0% cost

  • Payment gateway fees. Whoever processes the card or UPI payment charges a fee on every transaction. This is separate from the platform's commission on any platform.
  • GST. Check how GST applies to your sales and to the platform's own fee, and consult an accountant.
  • The plan fee. A platform with no commission has to be paid for somewhere. A flat fee is the trade.

What you keep from a ₹10,000 sale

Ignoring gateway fees and GST, which apply on any platform, the platform's own share looks like this on a ₹10,000 course sale:

Platform commission on a ₹10,000 sale (before gateway fees and GST)
CommissionPlatform keepsYou keep
10%₹1,000₹9,000
5.5%₹550₹9,450
3.5%₹350₹9,650
0%₹0₹10,000

A few hundred rupees a sale sounds small. Across a hundred sales a month at 10%, it is ₹1,00,000 a month.

How to choose

  • Low sales, just starting: a pay-as-you-earn plan with a low fixed fee can cost less than a flat plan. See where each plan breaks even in our fee comparison.
  • Steady sales: work out a year of commission. If it exceeds the flat fee of a zero-commission plan, switch.
  • Selling to India: check billing in rupees, GST invoices and local payment methods, not just the commission headline.

Frequently asked questions

Which course platform has 0% commission?
Several list 0% on certain plans, including Learnyst Professional and above, TagMango Ultimate, Teachable Builder and above with Teachable Payments, and Podia Shaker and above. Synappses charges 0% on every plan.
Do I still pay gateway fees on a zero-commission plan?
Yes. The payment gateway charges its own fee on every transaction, whichever platform you use.
Is a zero-commission platform always cheaper?
No. A flat plan fee has to be covered, so at low sales a platform with a small percentage and a low fixed fee can cost less.
