Teachable is one of the best-known course platforms in the world, but it is built and priced for a global audience. Indian creators often look for alternatives because of three things: billing in dollars, a commission on the entry plan, and questions about rupee checkout. This guide compares the options using each platform's own pricing page, read on 14 October 2026.

What to compare when you leave

  1. Currency. Do you pay for the platform in rupees or dollars?
  2. Commission. Does the plan you can afford take a cut of every sale?
  3. Checkout. Which payment methods can Indian buyers use?
  4. Your app. Is a branded app included, an add-on, or on a higher tier?
  5. Invoices. Do you get a GST invoice?

What Teachable's commission costs in rupees

On the Starter plan, 7.5% of sales is yours to pay on top of the plan price. At different monthly sales that is:

Teachable Starter commission (the plan price, in dollars, is extra)
Monthly salesCommission a monthCommission a year
₹50,000₹3,750₹45,000
₹1,00,000₹7,500₹90,000
₹2,00,000₹15,000₹1,80,000

Builder and above list 0% when you use Teachable Payments, so the question becomes whether the higher dollar price is worth it. Compare the rupee cost of each option for your own revenue, and see how Synappses compares in the Teachable comparison.

Migration checklist

  • Export your student list and purchase history before you cancel.
  • Keep a copy of your course videos and documents; do not rely on the platform as your only backup.
  • Rebuild your sales page and checkout and run a test payment in rupees.
  • Email students with their new login and a short walkthrough.
  • Ask your new platform what migration help is included. On Synappses it is handled case by case on Medium and fully supported on Pro.
